Highlights of Bologna
Explore Bologna and discover the reasons behind its nickname of "La Ricca, la Dotta & la Grassa" or in English, the rich, the wise and the fat. Bologna's riches come from its many important industries, including Italy's famous luxury cars such as Ferrari, headquartered in nearby Maranello. Wisdom comes from having one of Italy's first universities. And with its rich cuisine of Bolognese sauce, tortellini, lasagna and cappelletti, it's easy to see why Bologna is also known as "the fat."

Private Half-Day Walking and Gourmet Tour of Bologna: One of the richest and interesting Cities in Italy. While strolling with your guide you will discover why it was given various nicknames: the wise - - the rich - the fat . This tour is a combination of art and eno-gastronomic traditions. You will visit Piazza Maggiore, the city’s main gathering place, built in the 13th century with its famous statue of Neptune, the Basilica of San Petronio, the Two Towers and the Medieval market. You will then make a stop at Majani’s shop, a traditional chocolate maker where solid chocolate was invented. You will not miss the visit at Atti’s shop, which is a must in Bologna, where you will hear the history of tortellini and tagliatelle. The tour will end at Tamburini’s shop, where, while hearing the history of Mortadella, you will taste some delicious local products such as Mortadella, Parmigiano Reggiano, salami, accompanied by local wine. Your dinner reservations this evening are at the famous Ristorante Il Pappagallo near Bologna’s Piazza Santo Stefano. Elegant old world ambience with space between the tables built a loyal following (Einstein, Hitchcock and Toscanini to name three) that leave autographed photographs now mounted on the walls. A local and international favorite since 1919, Il Pappagallo (the Parrot) serves la cucina Bolognese with a creative nouvelle touch. (Dress code applies. Present your voucher prior to ordering.
